Typhoon Morakot hits southern Taiwan since the night on 8 August 2009. Eden is not only get to the front line of disaster area and temp shlters but also have to bear its own suffer by the flood as two early intervention centers have been heavily damaged.

Eden’s early intervention centers especially in Cishan and Tung Kang township, Kaohsiung&Pingtung County have been heavily damaged by the flood which caused by the super typhoon Morakot, and quite a number of clients in those early intervention centers are still not able to reach till this moment. According to the latest information from the disaster area, there are 106 clients missing, 2 clients have become orphans, and 3 clients’ families have been flushed away by mudsilde in Eden Cishan Early Intervention Center, since our clients are from most of heaviest destructive villages such as Hsiao-Lin Village, Liukuei Township, and Namahsia township. In addition, there are 96 clients missing in Eden Tung Kang Early Intervention Center, and the 1st floor of the center building sunk in flood that made the damage worth is more than NT$1 million.



Eden’s CEO, Mr. Hwang has led our co-workers and volunteers to the front line of disaster areas to give our full efforts. So far there are three temp shelters operate by Eden which coordinated with local government, churches and temples. Even more, Eden donates 300 meal bags, 1,000 Eco-friendly packs, 444 toothbrushes, 240 toothpastes, hygiene hand wash bottles, floor wash liquid bottle, and multi-vitamin packs, by cooperating with several enterprises donors. In particular, the Eden Joy-choir by visually impairment people has also joint the relief work to bring psychological treatment via peaceful Hymn and music, and also provide free massages to victims as rehabilitation service. Then Eden will soon to hold the musical concerts on September in Kaohsiung and Chia-Yi for comforting victims in those disaster areas to release their pain and post-disaster trauma.
