Eden Social Welfare Foundation attend The 2nd Asian Social Entrepreneurs Summit
伊甸基金會代表參與第二屆亞太社會企業高峰會

第二屆「亞太社會企業高峰會」(Asian Social Entrepreneur Summit)於11/28-12/1在韓國首爾舉行，共有來自15個亞洲國家，300位參與者參與此次會議。
The 2nd Asian Social Entrepreneurs Summit gathered 300 participants from 15 Asian countries in Seoul Korea from November 28th to December 1st.

伊甸基金會為此次「亞太社會企業高峰會」台灣唯一受邀機構，以伊甸加油站為例，分享伊甸基金會運用社會企業模式於就業服務的案例。伊甸基金會代表並受邀於閉幕式上與韓國社會企業協議會的聯合主席，共同宣讀此次參與者所凝聚的共識「亞太社會企業高峰會」宣言，顯示台灣在社會企業上的成就受到高度肯定。
EDEN Social Welfare Foundation is the only Taiwanese organization invited by Asian Social Entrepreneur Summit and shared the case of EDEN gas station which combined the concept of social enterprise and EDEN disability employment service. The representative of EDEN was invited to delivered the declaration of 2010 Asian Social Entrepreneur Summit with the co-chair of National Council of Social Enterprises in Korea in the closing ceremony, which showed the development of social enterprise in Taiwan was highly recognized.

大會主題為「亞洲貧窮與社會企業-改變浪潮」，希望藉由促進亞洲社會企業家的合作，解決亞洲境內貧窮問題。過去亞洲貧窮問題被非洲飢荒掩蓋，事實上印度有成千上萬的人民生活水準低於貧窮線，及為數眾多的工作貧困者(working poor)在亞洲區域內。此次會議聚集亞洲境內的社會企業家及社會企業，分享彼此經驗，希望建立亞洲網路，並相信亞洲國家可以共同解決境內貧窮問題。此次會議在韓國受到高度重視，Korea Times有大篇幅報導。
The theme of summit is 「Asian Poverty and Social Entrepreneurship, a Wave of Change in Asia, which aims to boost cooperation of Asian social entrepreneurs to alleviate poverty and other problems in Asia. In the past, Asian poverty is often overshadowed by African hunger crises. Hundreds of millions are living below the poverty line in India and the number of working poor is growing across the continent. In the summit, Asian social entrepreneurs and social enterprise converged to build up Asian network and have the consensus that believes Asians can end poverty in Asia. This summit was highly valued in Korea and The Korea Times had a lengthy report.

社會企業的目的是為解決社會問題，靠日常的營運，在市場機制中自給自足。透過所提供的產品、服務、作業流程或雇用的員工，創造社會公益，消弭社會不公平。換句話說，就是以商業手法，達到公益的目的。公益的領域包括：教育、環保、貧窮、公共衛生、弱勢族群等。伊甸基金會為國內雇用最多身心障礙者的機構，致力推動身心障礙者就業，希望消弭身心障礙者在參與社會的不公平。伊甸基金會在財務上也希望能降低政府補助，達到自給自足的目標，進而提供永續性的服務。
Social enterprises are companies with social goals. Like all for-profit companies, they sell products or services in exchange for revenues, which result in profits. However, social enterprises have a major mission to create social values by providing socially or environmentally beneficial products, or by hiring or serving disadvantaged groups of people. In other words, social enterprises try to solve social problems with business solutions. EDEN Social Welfare Foundation is the number one organization in Taiwan that hires the most disabilities staffs and devotes on the issue employment rights of the disabilities. Eden’s main purpose is to eliminate the unfair and barrier for disabilities in social participation. In financial status, Eden tries to decline the dependency on Government resource in order to provide service in a sustainability way.
