Introduction

The mere mention of roller coasters and tilt-a-whirls conjures up excitement in children. But if you think this sort of
fun isn't available to children with disabilities, you'd be wrong.

Wisconsin is full of wonderful views, great summer days, hiking trails, campgrounds, cabins, and fishing and hunting opportunities. Many of these opportunities are also available to individuals with disabilities. Wisconsin state parks, forests, and trails have more than 650 miles of trails that are accessible to wheelchair users and individuals with other mobility impairments. Many of these parks, forests, and trails feature accessible picnic areas and other facilities.

Models of Disability

We are here to do some thinking on a global scale. That's a big task.

Big thinkers like to give names to the boundaries they put around ideas - handles to make them easier to grasp. When we talk about disability we usually talk about these "idea packages" as models of disability.
