Chongqing, Feb 24: Chongqing Ziqiang Travel, which is said to be the first travel service provider for disabled people in Chongqing, has been opened in the city's Nan'an District.

Chen Jiayu, vice chair of Chongqing Disabled Persons Association, said that there are about 1.69 million disabled people, and millions of senior citizens who have mobility problems, in Chongqing. For these people, the beautiful scenery of Chongqing is something that they can only see from TV programs. CZTC, which was initiated by five disabled people, all of whom are over 50 years old, aims to show this group of people to Chongqing's beautiful night views and suburban landscapes.

It is understood that the company will increase their investment to CNY30 million within the year and launch a range of travel products for disabled people and for senior citizens. Each of the travel products will be priced at about CNY400.

Take a stroll downtown with Lisa Bennett. You'll learn that in many places, Albany sidewalks are not all they should be.

Not where ease of use in a wheelchair is concerned, anyway.

Bennett, 29, grew up in Sodaville, graduated from Oregon State University and works as the disability access coordinator for the city of Albany.

She's been taking a survey of the condition of downtown sidewalks, starting on the west side of Ellsworth Street.

Nation's First Braille Assistance Cards for Airline Passengers in Use at San Diego International Airport

SAN DIEGO, CA San Diego International Airport (SDIA) has become the first airport in the nation to use Braille and large-format text assistance cards to make the security screening process at airport checkpoints easier for airline passengers with hearing and/or visual disabilities.

Physically challenged and elderly persons might soon find it easier to access tourist destinations in India as the Government intends to make them barrier-free for the benefit of this section of tourists.

The Indian Tourism Ministry has made it mandatory that all tourist facilities, which are being created with Central Government financial assistance, should be barrier-free, the tourism secretary, Mr Shilabhadra Banerjee, said on 24 October at a Training Workshop for Government managers and engineers.
