International Accessible Tourism

With the official opening of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in 2005 and Beijing‘s hosting of the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics, the Asia Pacific region will receive an increased number of travelers with disabilities and their families. Therefore, it is now crucial to promote accessible tourism in the region.

Eden hosted the 2005 International Accessible Tourism Conference in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Disability Forum (APDF). During May24-27, 2006, Eden organized an “Accessible Travel Experience and Study Tour to Hong Kong Disneyland”. A group of 15 Taiwanese visitors, including volunteers and people with limited mobility, visited tourist attractions and then consulted with welfare organizations for people with disabilities in Hong Kong.
