Wheelchair Donations
Since 1996, Eden has donated wheelchairs to Afghanistan, Mozambique,
Malaysia, Korea, Jordan, Vietnam, etc. As of March 2006, Eden
had helped 9,848 people with disabilities through wheelchair donations
with the “Love without Borders” project.
Disaster Response
In 2001, Eden actively raised resources for victims of the El
Salvador earthquake, and invited El Salvadorian delegates to Taiwan
for a study tour on the post-921 earthquake reconstruction. Eden
also sent delegates to El Salvador to coordinate the reconstruction
project
Food Aid
Since 2003, Eden has cooperated with an international enterprise
to operate a food aid program for poor and malnourished children.
More than 47,000 packs of “Vita Meal” —an expertly designed, great
tasting, rice-lentil formula— have been sent to Lanyu Island (Taiwan),
Shanghai, Vietnam, and Inner Mongolia.
Rehabilitation for War Injured People
In 2003, Eden established the “War-Injured Children‘s Fund” for
Khaldon-Kh-Thiab, a 12-year-old Iraqi war-injured boy, to receive
medical and rehabilitation treatment in Taiwan. He received a
new artificial leg, and is now able to play his favorite sport—soccer
Love Without Borders
According to the estimates of the United Nations, one person
is killed or injured by landmines every twenty-two minutes. Since
1996, Eden has donated wheelchairs to Afghanistan (where the number
of landmines is reportedly largest), Mozambique, Malaysia, Korea,
Jordan and Vietnam. On July 30, 1998, Eden became the formal representative
of the International Anti-Landmines Organization. So far, Eden
has helped 9,848 people with disabilities through “Love Without
Borders” activities.
Holding international conferences
Through holding international conferences on a variety of issues,
Eden invites scholars and experts all over the world to Taiwan
to exchange experiences and knowledge. Through developing expertise
and contacts in these conferences, professionals in Taiwan are
able to keep up with new trends in disability welfare and improve
their services for people in need.
Bringing up international issues at home
Eden brings important international issues to the attention of
the Taiwanese public, including the campaign to ban landmines,
the war in Iraq, SARS and the bird flu, and other issues, in order
to encourage the Taiwanese to turn compassion into action for
people in need.
Reception of foreign guests
After many years of hard work, Eden has become one of the Taiwanese
NGOs that attract foreign visitors. Recently, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs recognized Eden as an organization that represents
the achievements of social welfare in Taiwan.
Participation in international organizations
For years, Eden has consistently found opportunities to participate
in suitable international organizations, developed international
friendships, and cooperated with other organizations.
International Participation
At the moment, Eden is a member of the following international organizations:
The International Campaign to Ban Landmines(ICBL)
The ICBL, founded in1992 and a co-laureate of 1997 Nobel Peace
Prize, is a network of more than 1,400 groups in over 90 countries.
It calls for a worldwide ban on the use, production, stockpiling,
and transfer of antipersonnel landmines.
Asia and Pacific Disability Forum(APDF)
Eden joined APDF in 2000, when it was called the RNN (the Regional
NGO Network). It promotes the 2nd Asian and Pacific Decade of
Disabled Persons (2003-2012), a UNESCAP initiative set up in 2003
and due to run until 2012.
Rehabilitation International(RI)
Founded in 1922, RI is a global network of 700 members and affiliated
organizations in more than 90 countries. RI promotes the rights
of people with disabilities through international collaboration,
advocacy for policy protection, and work towards a UN convention
on the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities.
Workability International Asia(WI-Asia)
Workability International (WI) is the largest international network
of providers of work and employment services to people with disabilities.
In 2004, WI members operating in Asia created a regional subgroup—Workability
Asia—hoping to improve employment services for people with disabilities
through regional networking and collaboration.

With the official opening of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in 2005
and Beijing‘s hosting of the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics, the
Asia Pacific region will receive an increased number of travelers
with disabilities and their families. Therefore, it is now crucial
to promote accessible tourism in the region.
Eden hosted the 2005 International Accessible Tourism Conference
in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Disability Forum (APDF).
During May24-27, 2006, Eden organized an “Accessible Travel Experience
and Study Tour to Hong Kong Disneyland”. A group of 15 Taiwanese
visitors, including volunteers and people with limited mobility,
visited tourist attractions and then consulted with welfare organizations
for people with disabilities in Hong Kong.
